Time & Location
About The Event
Join Women's Daily Post to welcome New York Times best-selling author, Laura Lippman, and her newest book, Lady in the Lake. We'll enjoy readings and musings, followed by a panel of women authors who will discuss how to write a book and get it published.
Laura Lippman, who grew up in Baltimore and attended Wilde Lake high school in Columbia, was a newspaper reporter for 20 years before leaving journalism to focus on writing novels. She has penned 12 mystery novels about the “accidental PI” Tess Monaghan as well as 11 other books with stories of mystery, intrigue and strong women characters. Winner of numerous awards for mystery writing, including the Edgar, the Agatha, the Nero Wolfe and Gumshoe, Lippman was also the first-ever recipient of the Mayor’s Prize for Literary Excellence and the first genre writer recognized as Author of the Year by the Maryland Library Association.
Marion Winik, a Baltimore-based book critic, author (most recently, The Big Book of the Dead), longtime contributor to NPR's All Things Considered and host of WYPR's The Weekly Reader, will moderate the panel.
Panelists include authors Marlene Trestman (Fair Labor Lawyer: The Remarkable Life of New Deal Attorney and Supreme Court Advocate Bessie Margolin), Debra Diamond (Diary of a Death Doula) and Jerdine Nolen (Harry Potter’s Balloon Farm).
Following the discussion, stay for wine and light snacks (to purchase from the theater concessions) and mingling.

ABOUT OUR VENUE:
The Chesapeake Shakespeare Company Theater and cultural center, located near the Inner Harbor in Downtown Baltimore, opened in September 2014. CSC transformed a 19th Century landmark bank building into a modern 260-seat theater inspired by Shakespeare’s Globe. The Chesapeake Shakespeare Company (CSC) began in 2002 with a small group of artists committed to changing how people think about Shakespeare, by producing shows that allowed audiences to connect to classic works in whole new ways – ways that are fresh, innovative and sustainable.
