About The Event

Up your classical music repertoire and your Halloween costume game Occasional Symphony's first Halloween venture from 2012 gets a re-boot for 2019 with four world premieres added!  You’ll be in good company. The performers, including the conductor, will be dressed to thrill as well as they combine horror, humor, and harmony on Halloween night.

Enjoy the 1920 silent horror film classic, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, directed by Robert Wiene, with Occasional Symphony's live, original soundtrack conducted by Music Director Ryan Tani. The live score includes classical favorites, commissions from 2012 by James Young and Scott Lee, and world premieres composed by Joshua Bornfield, Stephen Edwards, Haley Olson, and Kristina Wolfe.

As always, no plus-one required for the Mixolo experience, but you may want to find comfort in your new Mixolo connections.

Occasional Symphony is on a mission to share the majesty of symphonic music performances in less traditional and more accessible venues, “living spaces,” none more appropriate than the cool and spooky 2640 Space on St. Paul Street.

Founded in 2012 in Baltimore, Maryland, Occasional Symphony is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and “grassroots” orchestra in Baltimore that presents innovative concert celebrations to engage the community and illuminate the experience of hearing live music curated for living spaces.

Occasional Symphony concerts happen in distinctive venues not often associated with orchestral music. Each program is designed to resonate with the specific venue and occasion. Baltimore Magazine named the 2016 Halloween show Baltimore’s Best Performance or Play for that year.

The 2640 Space on St. Paul operates as a collective and event space supporting the arts and grassroots organizations, as well the occasional wedding, in it’s stunning interior, a former Methodist church.
