Gala with us: Fashion Rocks Autism
Time & Location
About The Event
When good causes meet good fun... that's Fashion Rocks Autism, the annual fundraiser for SafeMinds, staunch advocates and changemakers for the millions of children and adults diagnosed and living with autism. Chances are you know someone with autism or raising an autistic child. You can help and have fun doing it.
While hands-on volunteering remains a noble option, it's also admirable to rock out and enjoy yourself by coming out with Mixolo, with or without a plus-one, and supporting the mission of organizations like SafeMinds. You can go with us.
Enjoy delicious hearty bites, carving and dessert stations and two words: Open. Bar. DJ Vince Christopher will be spinning tunes during the hour-long reception. We'll enjoy live rock and roll band, High Voltage. Star-studded models from the local media, sports and fashion world, as well as people directly affected or diagnosed with autism, will rock the over-the-top runway show. Prepare to be entertained and tempted by the coveted silent and live auction items. And you’ll have a chance to see and bid on all of it. Join our “table-of-ones.” Do good and look good doing it, too.
*Note: Tickets for this event are also being sold to the general public by SafeMinds. Mixolo has arranged to re-sell tickets set aside for our members on our Mixolo ticketing platform in order to provide a shared experience for our solo guests.*
MORE ABOUT OUR HOST:
SafeMinds is a national 501(c)3 nonprofit headquartered right here in Baltimore. It has elevated the narrative on autism, an often misunderstood and controversial health matter. SafeMinds is focused on resolving the autism crisis through advocacy, education, outreach and promoting cutting-edge research to identify the environmental factors that may contribute to adverse neurological outcomes.
Beyond simply measuring the increases in diagnoses, SafeMinds is interested in preventing the development of moderate to severe autism, while giving parents and caregivers tools to help mitigate the co-occurring conditions related to autism, and the emotional difficulties related to managing and coping with autism across the lifespan. SafeMinds partners with parents of affected children, parents-to-be who wish to have the healthiest outcome for their children, those advocating for examining alternative treatments, health professionals, the scientific community, policymakers, and funders who share their desire to "find and ameliorate the non-genetic contributors to autism and champion effective treatments.”
In 2015, SafeMinds began its SafeBodies campaign by co-founding the Autism Safety Coalition (ASC), a consortium of national advocacy organizations that promotes national policies that will increase the public safety of people with autism and other developmental disabilities. This year, the ASC helped to pass a bill that will fund training for law enforcement organizations and other community organizations on preventing and addressing wandering in people with autism and other developmental disabilities.
