Mascagni's L’Amico Fritz in Concert

Whatever your opera exposure or level of composure, join Mixolo and our cast of adventurous solos, with or without a plus-one, and Baltimore Concert Opera at their gilded home at the historic Engineer's Club of Mount Vernon, Baltimore, for their performance of L’Amico Fritz by Pietro Mascagni.

Based on a French comedy by Emile Erckmann and Alexandre Chatrian, Mascagni’s L’Amico Fritz tells the story of the stubborn Fritz, a wealthy landowner who disdains marriage. His friend David, a rabbi and persistent matchmaker, challenges him to a wager, betting that the bachelor will cave to marriage.

Enter Suzel, the enchanting daughter of Fritz’s steward. Will Fritz lose his cool and his bet? Or will he let Suzel marry a rival? Fans of Mascagni’s more famous and more frenetic Cavalleria Rusticana will delight in the idyllic charm of this opera, which was first performed in 1872 to rave reviews.

Absent the lavishness of a fully staged opera, not to mention the price and the commute to DC - or NYC, Baltimore Concert Opera, manages to bring a stellar, all-professional cast of accomplished opera singers to their concert style performances.

ABOUT BALTIMORE CONCERT OPERA:

Baltimore Concert Opera performances are meant to be up close and personal. Guests settle in for a relaxed evening in the elegant Grand Ballroom of the Engineers Club, in the heart of historic Mount Vernon, with the added convenience of subtitles for the curious and the newbies. No judgment. A company founded by professional opera singers and opera lovers, they strive to provide an experience for opera lovers of all stages.

WHAT’S INCLUDED:

Your ticket grants entry to the performance, approximately 3 hours long. The opera is sung in Italian with English supertitles. The performance begins at 3:00 PM.

A cash bar will be open self-pay purchases of beer or wine. We'll gather in a designated area in the Atrium at 2:15 PM to meet and mingle with our fellow solos. There is a pre-performance talk that begins at 2:30 PM for your enjoyment.

No, tickets to this performance are open to the public on the Baltimore' Concert Opera website at various price points.

If you would like to attend with us, tickets for the Mixolo experience at the performance are only available on our web or app ticketing platforms.

There are dining options that you may enjoy on the premises at the Engineers Club's iconic dining room. The pre-performance dining option will be self-pay. A full-service brunch is available for $43/person with 48 hours advance notice required.

Sunday afternoon's Champagne Brunch includes: Chef’s Choice Poultry, Seafood, Meat, Pasta, Vegetable and Starch Sides, 3 salads, Fresh Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, Lox, Belgian Waffles, Fresh Berries & Cream, Breakfast Pastries, Champagne, Mimosas, Bloody Marys, Soft Drinks, Iced & Hot Tea and Coffee.

CANCELLATION/REFUNDS:

Tickets are non-refundable for this performance. Our host plans well in advance for their productions. Should Mixolo cancel the event, for reasons beyond our control, you will be fully refunded.

WHAT TO WEAR:

No formal dress code, however, we ask that you consider business casual for this event. Feel free to take this chance to dress for an elegant evening out at the opera, if you wish.
