About The Event

May we seat you for a summer treat? Join us for “Dinner in the Woods,” an outdoor 5-course dinner with thoughtful wine pairings in beautiful and luscious (after all this rain) Patapsco Valley State Park.

Mixolo is excited to support our good friend and host, Humanim for this fun'raiser... You’ve seen our wonderful cooking events at their School of Food, one of the many impactful social enterprises Humanim has created. School of Food is more than an insanely equipped state-of-art chef’s dream teaching kitchen. It is the home of Humanim’s City Seeds initiative.

We’re defining a social enterprise as one that contributes monetarily, or “reinvests” to further the mission of an altruistic organization.

The economically rising people supported by Humanim organization’s mission are not only gaining much needed marketable skills through City Seeds, but they are gainfully employed and offering exceptional food preparation and catering services to match the region’s best.

Please join us in support of City Seeds for this dining experience. The menu has been meticulously planned by their highly trained Executive Chef, Aharon Denrich, and jointly prepared with the graduates and employees Humanim’s City Seeds.

Humanim has a 46-year history of supporting and economically empowering individuals.

They do this through 40+ programs in the areas of human services, youth services, workforce development, and social enterprise throughout Maryland and Delaware. Their organization was founded on the belief that every human being has potential and that work is transformative, with the goal of creating economic equity for individuals with disabilities and socio-economic challenges.

Baltimore’s City Seeds, a Humanim social enterprise, is dedicated to training and employing people who have faced huge challenges in their lives, including incarceration, disabilities and lack of a high school diploma.

“At City Seeds, we provide jobs in the hospitality sector for economically rising men and women,” said Deborah Haust, VP of culinary enterprises at Humanim, which is the umbrella company for City Seeds. “Dinner in the Woods gives our team on-the-job training and gives our guests a delicious meal served with social impact.”

The idea for Dinner in the Woods came from Aharon Denrich, the head chef at City Seeds. He wanted to flex his creative muscles and put on a culinary show. Breaking on to the culinary scene at eight years old, acclaimed Executive Chef Aharon Denrich has been WOWing palates for over 3 decades with his culinary prowess). Experienced in all aspects of the culinary arts and food and beverage management and a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, Aharon is sharing his gifts with others.
