About The Event

Join Mixolo solos and start your Memorial day weekend vacation - or staycation - early with a different kind of wine tour and tasting, and find out why The Vineyards at Dodon is disrupting everything we think we know about Maryland winemaking. Dodon knows the structure and texture of a wine, not to mention the overall quality, is dependent upon the structure and texture of the soil. They are first stewards of the soil, doing much of their work by hand, then makers of wine.

Reward yourself with a few happy hours after a hard day's work for a getaway not too far away on a spring evening with Mixolo. No plus-one required. Our members leave our events ex-strangers with new connections.

We'll begin with a true insider’s description and history of the property. We’ll take in the expansive vineyards, as the proprietors explain how they blend classical farming practices with modern technology to create a diverse, yet balanced ecosystem. Following a tour of the state-of-the-art cellar, the visit ends with a seated tasting of Dodon Rosé, Sauvignon Blanc, and South Slope (a red blend) and a discussion of the nuances of Dodon's terroir.

"The tour and tasting will be lead by Dodon's Director of Client Services, Regina McCarthy. After working with the local wine industry for nearly four years, Regina represented premium wine, spirit and Champagne brands to Baltimore's finest restaurants. She is also the author of a book about Maryland's rich wine history, called Maryland Wine: A Full-Bodied History. Most recently, Regina has spent two years at Dodon, which she considers her home away from home."

By the time we finish our tour and you taste your first wine, you'll be a sommelier in the making, evaluating their "living" soil's impact on the exquisitely complex flavors that Dodon wines present.

Dodon is a 555 acre working family farm, the largest in Anne Arundel County. The property was first purchased by the Steuart family from Nicholas Carroll in 1725 by Dr. George H. Steuart of Argaty, Perthshire, Scotland. Nine consecutive generations of Steuarts (now Pittmans) have since lived and worked at Dodon.

Is this event restricted to Mixolo early adopter members and interested event hosts?

Yes, in order to attend this event, we ask that you register with Mixolo in mind as a social network that you will consider joining. We are a network of solo adults pursuing the things we love to do and sharing enriching experiences with other like-minded adults.

How do I become a member and attend this event with Mixolo?

Membership is free. Mixolo will soon debut a multi platform app. We do not yet have a formal login and profile option on our current pre-app Web/Mobile site. When you register for this event, we will ask for basic identifying information that will automatically qualify you as an early adopter member and subscriber.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

The minimum age for this event will be 21. ID may be required, as alcoholic beverages will be offered. Please be prepared to present your state ID or driver ’s license upon request.

What are my parking options?

Dodon has ample onsite parking. Also, consider Lyft/Uber to make your night worry free!

How will cancellations be handled?

Attendee cancellation:

Cancellations may be made for a full refund, 7 days in advance of the event. No refunds 7 days before the event as Mixolo will be committed to making advance payments for the event.

Mixolo cancellation:

Much of the tour will be held outdoors. We will notify you of an alternative date or offer a credit for future events, if we have to cancel less than 7 days before the event, due to prohibitive weather conditions.
