About The Event
Join Mixolo, the solo-friendly social network, with or without a plus-one, for the regional premiere of "A Public Reading of an Unproduced Screenplay About THE DEATH OF WALT DISNEY" at Single Carrot Theatre. Tony-award-winning playwright Lucas Hnath (The Christians, A Doll’s House Part 2) takes us into the mind of the megalomaniac behind the magic, Walt Disney, to explore a darker side of the happiest place on earth.
This black comedy is as unconventional as the vanguard Single Carrot Theatre, our host. Their thought-provoking productions regularly take audiences on unexpected journeys, and The Death of Walt Disney is no exception. In lieu of a more traditional theatre experience, join us behind the curtain for a play that will amuse, intrigue, and surprise.
Walt Disney has been elevated to an almost mythic figure since his death - the empire he began to build as a young man has grown and expanded, and the legend of its founder has, too. In Hnath’s play, we see the man behind the myth, a man obsessed with his own legacy and chasing immortality. Far from the perfectly orchestrated fantasies that made him famous, Hnath depicts Walt’s life as a complex tapestry of conflict, power, failure, and fear. Set in the last days before his death, the play offers a glimpse of the dark heart of the Disney machine.
In a time where many of our visionaries and idols are tarnished by revelations of their darker ambitions, The Death of Walt Disney confronts the challenging legacy of the man who built an empire on a mouse.
Our Mixolo group will gather at 7:30 PM for a meet and greet and light snacks before the performance which begins promptly at 8:00 PM.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Single Carrot Theater is located in the historic Remington Neighborhood, an original Baltimore streetcar neighborhood, lately bustling with new and responsible development projects like the Theater and the popular R House Food Market. While parking is normally available, you may also want to consider ride-sharing options.
From the Single Carrot Theater website:
There is ample unmetered street parking located within walking distance of Single Carrot, and there are two parking lots where guests of local businesses may park for free. One is located on 26th Street, between N. Howard and Huntingdon Avenue, with entrances on 26th. The other is situated kitty-corner from the theater, on 26th between N. Howard and Mace Street, with an entrance on Mace. Parking in these lots is extremely limited, so we encourage you to look for street parking on Howard, Huntingdon, and 26th, or any other nearby streets!
