About The Event

Food is our common ground. Our most universal experience. - James Beard

So nice, we're doing it twice! Mixolo and School of Food invite you for brunch, with instructions. From scratch to finish we’ll prepare everything from the English muffin to the hollandaise sauce, the “mother” of all French sauces. The usual beverage suspects* will be available for maximum brunchness. As usual, no plus-one is required for Mixolo’s solo-friendly events.

We’ll be among the first to experience this state-of-the-art cooking school and social enterprise, ready to launch on the groundbreaking Baltimore Food Hub campus in East Baltimore.

A Humanim culinary social venture, School of Food’s primary mission is to create opportunities for economically rising men and women. The School of Food is building a workforce in the hospitality industry by hiring those with barriers to entry for employment.

With its community cooking classes, led by professionally trained and acclaimed chefs, School of Food aims to increase your comfort in the kitchen with hands-on culinary instruction and learning to help you take your meal preparation to a new level. We’ll find out what all the fuss is about “slow cooking” as our chef takes on rare sous vide adventure.

Warning: Kitchen fans may experience bouts of gadget and technology envy. We’ll counter that with intangible tools, like the many different ways you can prepare an egg, the secrets to the perfect whipped cream and how to incorporate seasonal herbs to elevate your palate and your entertaining "brand."

The universe is calling. In the spirit of School of Food’s mission to increase your kitchen comfort. come out, with or without a plus-one, and join other Mixolo solos for a “social good” time - with benefits.
