We're all adventurers. Just say yes.
As your wanna-be concierge for fun, we promised we would go out and find hosts that want to welcome our enthusiastic solos. We want to bring you what you desire and we want you to take a leap with Mixolo and discover your fun. You won't need a bucket list anymore. Just do it - and do it with Mixolo, with or without a plus-one. Go solo and find your plus-some.
Our first blog- featured Mixolo host is Steve Kopelman of Active Excursions. Active Excursions and Mixolo will be partnering on events for the adventurous and the curious. Steve's company organizes innovative and personalized local, regional, national and international excursions for groups, from local hikes and kayaking adventures to traversing the Appalachian trail, exploring the Chesapeake Bay and scuba diving in the Bahamas.
Active Excursions' home base, the Piedmont Learning Center, in Gwynn Oak, Maryland, is only a few yards from the edge of northwest Baltimore City. It's an urban dweller's delight and getaway right outside of historic Dickeyville and flanked by the beautiful 64 acre Gwynn Oak Park.

If you can think of it, Active Excursions can make it happen. Active Excursions promotes outdoor and environmental education and responsible stewardship of the environment and our valuable natural resources, through experiential and FUN workshops and trips where people can find connection with others and with nature. "
Active Excursions goes indoors, too. We'll book DIY activities at cool maker spaces and tech-leaning immersive adventures and simulations. Steve's target market, until Mixolo, has been primarily "corporate" or connected groups. He's ready to bring those same exceptional services to our groups of solos likely connecting for the first time.
"Social, educational, dynamic escapes are what we offer," Steve says. "We typically offer unique and fun team building opportunities to groups of people already familiar with one another. We're very excited about partnering with Mixolo to offer their members those same activities and so much more. We are ready to welcome Mixolo groups coming together in pursuit of a healthier lifestyle and a connection with like-minded enthusiasts."
We'd also like to introduce Copper Kitchen, the Baltimore region's premier farm-to-table caterer, an added bonus when we book fun through Active Excursions. While Copper Kitchen's commissary is located in southwest Baltimore City, they have a notable presence at the Piedmont Learning Center campus with a herb garden, the on-site apiary where they harvest they own honey, and a refurbished 160-year-old on-site smokehouse where they smoke our own meats.

We'll get up close and personal with the Active Excursions Founder at the Piedmont Learning Center on Friday, September 22, fall's equinox, as we gather for a sunset happy hour in the bucolic setting and chat with Steve and a short hike to tour the premises and enjoy a peek of at the apiaries. Copper Kitchen will regale us with locally-sourced light bites and seasonal cider (straight or "artisanally" spiked). This event is free of charge to Mixolo early adopters. Say yes. Find out more.
