Celebrating the Social Good Life

“Come quickly, I am tasting the stars!" Dom Perignon (French Benedictine Monk)

Introducing early adopter event host partner, Mike LaRoque of The Champagne Campaign, a not-for-profit that respectfully disrupts the “culture of martyrdom” for social impact. While sacrifice for others remains a valiant and often necessary pursuit for the survival of humankind, with a new generation of social influencers, doing social good has been elevated to include, well, fun. With The Champagne, Campaign, Mike is keeping it light and bubbly while promoting the “social good” life.

Mike’s story is simple but heartfelt. A native Baltimorean, he launched The Champagne Campaign in the fall of 2016 after a summer visit to the Windy City where he was starstruck by the sparkling elixir and Chicagoans’ apparent obsession with it. “Baltimore is missing out on something special,” he mused.

Champagne has been a symbol for marking the joy and gravity of special occasions with its celebratory origins associated with luxury and parties of the European royal courts and aristocracy. By the late 19th century, Champagne had become more accessible worldwide. Mike could not ignore the symbolism of this effervescent wine as a celebration marker and Champagne does this iconically, with a pop of the cork and visually, with the eruption of CO2 bubbles that look like stars.

With The Champagne Campaign, Mike is combining his altruistic spirit with his passion for connecting people over a glass of bubbly. He’s doing that through tasteful gatherings around Baltimore, like his upcoming event, Rose' on The Roof, to benefit the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults, at a chic rooftop bar and lounge. He’s not only helping to make Champagne more accessible, he’s bringing people together to support and celebrate the less “branded,” but effective, local charities in and around the City of Baltimore, some that may be overlooked by the larger sponsors.

The Champagne Campaign is an ideal partner for Mixolo and our mission. The majority of our members who have taken our pre-app survey expressed interest in volunteering and giving pursuits and, of course, they want to go out solo, without stigma, and meet other like-minded people. And 60+% love wine! We'll get to know Mike better as a group of Mixolo early adopters will attend his upcoming Rose' on the Roof event.* Later, Mike will be hosting Mixolo exclusive events for our members.

Mike is also juggling a day career as an IT recruiter, but has big dreams for spreading good cheer(s) with his social enterprise. “I hope to grow The Champagne Campaign and continue to collaborate with Mixolo, as we both expand into new cities, and provide unique and fun events for their members to attend,” says Mike.

*This event is now at capacity for Mixolo-sponsored, no fee, tickets, however, we have a waiting list. Try your luck. You don't have to miss out! Limited tickets are still available for purchase directly through The Champagne Campaign.
