Good earth, good wine

We’ve making new connections again.

"We're excited to partner with Mixolo and their social network of solos who enjoy sharing experiences with others. I think it's a great match for our Wine Club, which is another great place to meet people, make new friends and create new memories."

The Vineyards at Dodon

The Vineyards at Dodon is disrupting everything we think we know about Maryland winemaking. Dodon knows the structure and texture of a wine, not to mention the overall quality, is dependent upon the structure and texture of the soil. They are first stewards of the soil, then makers of wine. The farm is completely solar and most of the work is done by hand.

The Vineyards at Dodon

Dodon is a 555-acre working family farm, the largest in Anne Arundel County. The property was first purchased by the Steuart family from Nicholas Carroll in 1725 by Dr. George H. Steuart of Argaty, Perthshire, Scotland. Nine consecutive generations of Steuarts (now Pittmans) have since lived and worked at Dodon.

Polly Pittman (pictured above), an 8th generation descendant and resident of this historic tobacco farm and her co-owner and winemaker, Tom Croghan, both highly respected professionals in public health and medical fields, respectively, began planting grapes in 2007 and produced their first wines in 2011. They blend classical farming practices with modern technology to create a diverse, yet balanced ecosystem.

No juice is "shipped in" at Dodon. The winemakers' ecologically sound practices for producing wines from grapes compatible with the soil in the region result in rich, balanced aromatic wines. The "living" soil directly impacts the exquisitely complex flavors that Dodon wines present.

The recognition and awards for The Vineyards at Dodon are piling up. If you’ve been to a fine restaurant, hotel or wine store in the Baltimore/Washington area, chances are Dodon selections are on the list.

There’s still time to join us for our tasting and tour of the vineyards on Sunday, November 12. Find out more... We'll learn more about their solo-friendly Wine Club offering social and educational events year round.
